A bunch of road construction is planned on metro Atlanta interstates this weekend, but there’s a good chance that rain will at least interrupt, if not cancel, some of the work.

Here’s what you need to know to dodge the rain drops and orange barrels this weekend:

If you liked this week's weather, you'll love the weekend forecast: Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz is predicting a 40 percent chance of rain Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with highs in the upper 80s and lows in the low 70s. Click here for the full weekend forecast and updates.

Construction zone wrap-up: Concrete slab replacement will shut down two lanes of I-285 in each direction between South Cobb Drive and Paces Ferry Road, starting at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday.

Other Perimeter work will shut down one lane in each direction all weekend between Ga. 400 and Roswell Road as well as two northbound lanes and one southbound lane between Roswell Road and Northside Drive.

On the east side Perimeter, sign work will block one lane in each direction between Northlake Parkway and Lawrenceville Highway.

Workers in Rockdale and Newton counties will close two westbound lanes of I-20 between Salem Road and Stockbridge Highway all weekend, along with the eastbound ramps to and from U.S. 278 near Covington.

On I-75, one lane in each direction will be closed near the Brookwood Interchange, while one northbound lane will be closed between Howell Mill and Moores Mill roads.

Two northbound lanes of Ga. 400 will be closed in the vicinity of the former toll plaza from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Saturday to shift traffic into its permanent lane configurations, with similar southbound closures planned for Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Weekend events: While the event calendar isn't quite as overflowing as last weekend's, there's still plenty to do in metro Atlanta.

Georgia State plays New Mexico State in football at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Georgia Dome, and the Falcons open the season against New Orleans at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Dome.

Next door, Philips Arena will be hosting “Oprah’s The Life You Want Weekend” Friday and Saturday.

Other events include Saturday's Drive-Invasion at the Turner Field Green Lot, the Great Atlanta Beer Fest Saturday at Turner Field and the Yellow Daisy Festival, which runs through Sunday at Stone Mountain Park. Full list of weekend events.
