With the turkey preparation and (for some) forced family time that comes with Thanksgiving Day, some might opt to stick to takeout and a movie as an alternative. Even if you are headed to a traditional Thanksgiving meal, you may just need a snack along the way.
If any of those scenarios describe you, you’re in luck. There are several fast-food and casual restaurants keeping their doors open on the holiday. Here are a few of the top fast-food and casual restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day:
Popeyes
Select Popeyes locations will open on Thanksgiving Day this year. In addition to its sought-after Spicy Chicken Sandwich, the restaurant added its Cajun Style Turkeys to the menu for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are precooked, hand-rubbed and seasoned. Check with your local Popeyes location to see its hours of operation on Thanksgiving.
Waffle House
The Georgia-based restaurant that never sleeps will, of course, keep its doors open on Thanksgiving Day. To mark the occasion, order some of the little-known options from the restaurant's secret menu.
Hooters
According to Business Insider, Hooters locations across the country will serve wings and dozens of television screens with whatever football matchup fits your taste. Check with your local Hooters for details.
Subway
A variety of turkey, roast beef and even veggie options will be available for those with a goal to “eat fresh” on Thanksgiving Day. Subway locations across the country will be open, but you’ll have to check with your location for details and hours.
Cracker Barrel
For fixings that will taste like home, Cracker Barrel is sure to serve. The restaurant has kept its doors open on Thanksgiving since it was founded in 1969, according to an online statement. The food chain, which has locations in Morrow and Lithia Springs, is set for an official Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to close on the holiday. Those meals will also be available for takeout.
Ted’s Montana Grill
Atlanta-based steak house Ted's Montana Grill will offer a special meal at local and national locations for the holiday. Ted Turner's restaurant chain, known for its bison burgers, will serve a 3-Course Traditional Roast Turkey Feast. Bon appetit.
Starbucks
Get a taste of pumpkin before the pumpkin pie is served at Starbucks on Thanksgiving. The hours will vary by location, but all Starbucks locations will have the “open” light for the holiday. The Pumpkin Spice Latte, Peppermint Mocha Latte and more will be on the menu.
Applebee’s
According to Business Insider, Applebee’s will keep its doors open on Thanksgiving Day, offering Brew Pub Pretzels, Boneless Wings and even its signature Bourbon Street Steak. Check with your nearest diner for details.
IHOP
Like its competitor Waffle House, IHOP stays open come what may. Breakfast and lunch options will be available all day at participating locations.
