A Putnam County woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly abusing her foster children.

Lynn Marie Smith, of Eatonton, is accused of abusing two minors in her care by withholding food and locking the children either inside or outside for extended periods of time, according to reports from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office by Channel 2 Action News.

Law enforcement was clued in to the situation at the Possum Point Drive home from an emailed tip.

“This is Lynn Smith and her “foster” child she is supposed to take care of instead she abuses them daily and nobody will do nothing,” the complainant told police in an email. “Y’all been there already and the kids are still being abused! This is torture and she needs to be prosecuted.”

Police said the email came with an attached video of a woman, presumably Smith, forcing a young child’s head into a toilet.

Smith was charged with first degree cruelty to children, third degree cruelty to children and simple battery. Police said some of the charges carry a family violence designation because Smith was the children’s foster parent.
