Soon after the start of an investigation into an alleged sexual encounter between students at a DeKalb County high school, the principal was removed from his post and reassigned to an elementary school.

Everett F. Patrick was moved from Martin Luther King Jr. High School near Lithonia to Pleasantdale Elementary near Doraville within the past week, said DeKalb schools spokesman Jeff Dickerson.

“It was not a direct result of that particular incident,” Dickerson said. “They just felt his leadership style was better for an elementary school.”

The school system is still investigating an incident at the high school that Channel 2 Action News reported as a rape in September.

It turns out it was not a rape, Dickerson said. “The young lady in question has admitted that there was some consensual oral sex.” He said the students were disciplined, as was a teacher who allowed them to be alone together.

Dickerson had no immediate details about the nature of the discipline.
