Investigators are asking the public for help after a man was shot in the head Thursday evening inside his Clarkston apartment.

Officers were called to the Silver Oak Apartments on Brockett Road about 11:40 p.m. and found the victim inside his home with a single gunshot wound, Clarkston police Sgt. Dustin Bulcher told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Investigators discovered several shell casings outside an adjacent building, but they don’t believe the victim was the intended target. The man was rushed to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition Friday morning, authorities said. Police have not released his name or age.

“There’s no indication that he was targeted at this time,” Bulcher said, adding the man may have been struck by a stray bullet.

Investigators haven’t identified any suspects in the case and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Tipsters are asked to call Clarkston police at 404-292-9465.
