A 23-year-old Gwinnett County man is accused of luring women into a vacant apartment, where he sexually assaults them at gunpoint.

Police know who the suspect is and where he lives. But so far, they haven’t been able to find him, Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett police said Thursday.

A SWAT team searched the Bradford Apartments, off Beaver Ruin Road, Thursday for Joseph Tyler Sivonda, but didn’t find him, Smith said. Investigators believe Sivonda lives in the complex and is using a vacant unit to commit the crimes. Sivonda allegedly hires female escorts online and then arranges the meetings.

“When these escorts show up at the designated location, he produces a hand gun and immediately holds them at gun point, robs them and sexually assaults them,” Smith told Channel 2 Action News. “He’s done that in three cases that we know about. We suspect that he’s done it even more than this.”

The latest victim came forward Monday, according to police. When he’s caught, Sivonda is expected to face armed robbery, aggravated sodomy and rape charges, according to police.

Sivonda is a previously convicted felon who was released from prison in November, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He spent three years and nine months in Dooly State Prison following a burglary conviction, records show.

Sivonda is described as being 5 feet, 7 inches tall and about 130 pounds. Anyone with information on Sivonda is asked to call detectives with the GCPD Robbery Unit at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-557-8477. Anyone who encounters Sivonda should call 911.
