Police release video of suspect in Buckhead kidnapping

Atlanta police have released a surveillance video of a Buckhead kidnapping suspect they want help in identifying.

The video shows a man wearing green camouflage patterned pants and a dark T-shirt with a white design on the chest.

The 35-year-old victim was kidnapped around 1:30 a.m. Thursday after he arrived home on Mathieson Road. Three men, one armed with a shotgun, forced him into their orange Dodge Neon and then forced him to withdraw $700 from ATMs and write them a $2,500 check, police were told. They then stole his 2000 dark green Honda Civic after driving him home, APD Sgt. Greg Lyon said.

The victim was not injured.

“I don’t think he was targeted,” Atlanta police Capt. Janet Brady told Channel 2 Action News. “I think they just saw an opportunity, someone that was returning home.”

Any information on the case can be submitted anonymously to the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477), online www.crimestoppersatlanta.org or by texting CSA and the tip to CRIMES (274637). Tipsters do not have to give their name or any identifying information to be eligible for the reward of up to $2,000 for the arrest and indictment of the suspects.
