The woman who was killed when she stepped into traffic at a Cobb County intersection last week has been identified, police said Monday.

The pedestrian was 45-year-old Beryl M. Bell of Williamston, N.C., according to authorities.

Bell was hit by a 2004 Mercedes E500 while crossing Powers Ferry Road at Windy Hill Road around 5:30 a.m. Thursday. She died at the scene.

She stepped into traffic “for reasons unknown,” Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce previously said.

The driver, who had the green light, stopped and called 911, and no charges are expected to be filed, police said.
