A Tucker woman was arrested Friday and a warrant was issued for a Canton woman in connection with coast-to-coast shipments of marijuana, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff.

A home on Oak Haven Drive in Canton was searched and Joyce Hyder, 56, of Tucker, was taken into custody by the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad on charges of trafficking marijuana, according to a release from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

The woman who lived at the residence, Linda Hansen, 66, is expected to turn herself in over the weekend after getting medical treatment, the sheriff's office said.

Agents say Hansen received drugs, shipped from Oregon, and held them for pick up by Hader. Two marijuana shipments, of about 20 pounds each were shipped to the residence, according to the news release. The shipper, who was not named, is a former Georgia resident and used multiple commercial shipping companies.

The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad includes the sheriff's office, the marshall's office, the district attorney's office for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, Canton police, Ball Ground police, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the state patrol.
