A woman who police say was under the influence of prescription drugs allegedly crashed her SUV with two minors in the backseat.

Just before 11 p.m. Nov. 22, Kelin Winters of Dawsonville was behind the wheel of a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer when she went off the roadway and struck a mailbox in the 12000 block of Providence Road, according to an incident report from the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. A baby girl and a 4-year-old boy were in the backseat. The report does not mention any injuries.

When authorities questioned Winters, she “had droopy eyelids and admitted to being on Klonopin, Gabapentin, and Methadone,” according to the report. “She also admitted … she was on Paxil and stated she took all of the medications earlier in the day.”

Police said they found 11 unknown pills in the the SUV. After a series of field sobriety tests, authorities concluded Winters was impaired, according to the report.

Winters faces multiple charges, including DUI, expired tags and failure to maintain lane.
