A homeowner shot and killed a robbery suspect late Wednesday outside a DeKalb County house, police said.
DeKalb police told Channel 2 Action News that when the 29-year-old homeowner returned to his Hairston Crossing Way home about 10:45 p.m., two gunmen approached him demanding cash.
The homeowner pulled his own gun and started shooting at the two suspects.
“What we know is it occurred out in the driveway of, we believe, is going to be victim’s residence,” DeKalb police Lt. Antonio Catlin told Channel 2. “We do believe it is going to be robbery-related. The potential robber is the one that’s deceased at the scene.”
The homeowner was shot during the exchange, but is expected to survive, according to Channel 2. The second suspected robber got away, the television station reported.
Investigators found three handguns and an ammunition clip in the street, and a vehicle believed to be a getaway car was found on an adjacent street, according to Channel 2.
