A College Park woman is facing multiple charges after police said she shot her 15-year-old son and another teen.

College Park police Sgt. Jeff Hightower said the incident happened about 8 p.m. Saturday at an apartment in the 3100 block of Godby Road.

Hightower said a fight broke out between a group of juveniles and adults outside one of the apartment buildings.

Hightower said the mother of one of the juveniles was hit in the face, and she “retrieved a .25-caliber handgun and fired several rounds into the crowd, striking two people.”

He said a 17-year-old male was hit in the buttocks by a bullet, and another round struck the woman’s son in the back of the head.

The 15-year-old victim was in serious condition Sunday at Grady Memorial Hospital, and the 17-year-old is expected to recover, Hightower said.

The younger teen’s mother, 33-year-old Latoya Tilson, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless conduct, cruelty to children, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony and violation of the family violence act. Other charges may be forthcoming, and additional arrests are possible, Hightower said.
