The head of a Gwinnett County non-profit has been arrested on charges he offered to doctor community service hours for female probationers in exchange for sexual favors.

Darrell Ellison, president and CEO of  Jails to Nails, a faith-based organization that provides jobs, housing and other resources for non-violent ex-offenders, was arrested Thursday after undercover deputies heard him openly solicit a victim for sexual favors in exchange for his help with her community service hours, according to authorities.

A supervisor at Southeast Corrections had earlier notified Gwinnett Sheriff’s office officials that a female inmate had complained that Ellison had offered to falsify her community service hours in exchange for sex, authorities said.

That prompted an undercover operation in which Ellison is heard again solicited the woman, police said. Deputies arrested Ellison Thursday when he arrived at a location where he believed he would be receiving sexual favors from the victim, police said.

He was charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit a felony crime and  two counts of making false statements and was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail. He has since been released on bond.

Investigators ask that any additional victims call the Investigative Services Division at 770-619-6655.
