A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured Friday afternoon when he was attacked by three pit bulls, according Clayton County police.

The boy, whose name was not released, was walking through a neighbor’s yard on Jimmy Lee Circle, near Jonesboro, when the dogs attacked him, a police spokeswoman said. He sustained bite marks to his face, arms and legs and was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston for treatment.

The dogs were not properly restrained in the front yard of a home and ran toward the victim before biting and dragging the boy, according to witnesses.

Clayton County Animal Control officials removed the dogs, and the owners were cited, according to police.
