Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide Saturday morning in southwest Atlanta.
Officers were responding to a call of a burglary in progress at an apartment inside the Deerwood Reserve complex off Fairburn Road. They arrived to discover an unidentified male and female dead from gunshot wounds, according to an Atlanta police spokesman. A weapon was recovered nearby.
Outside, officers found two young girls, ages 15 and 2, who were sent away by the assailant after he broke through a glass door to gain access into the residence. After fatally shooting the woman, he turned the gun on himself, police said.The APD spokesman said it’s believed the shooter and his victim had a previous relationship.
