It’s official! Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino set a new world record Wednesday for the largest pierogi.

The 123-pound pierogi was prepared and cooked by Rivers' Executive Chef Richard Marmion and Assistant Executive Chef Adam Tharpe.

According to casino officials, the record had never before been attempted, so the pierogi had to weigh more than 110 pounds, 3 ounces to qualify.

An adjudicator from Guinness World Records was on-site to verify the weight and officially deliver the good news.

"As a Pittsburgh native, I appreciate our city's passion for pierogies, which you can see on the menus in the restaurants throughout the casino," said Richard Marmion, executive chef of Rivers Casino. "Our team had a great time preparing for this challenge, and we're very excited to celebrate National Pierogi Day with a big win-literally."
