A Pitts aircraft with one person on board crashed short of the runway at LaGrange Callaway Airport in Troup County Wednesday afternoon, according to Kathleen Bergen, a spokesperson for the FAA, which is investigating the accident.

Authorities did not release the name or condition of the 51-year-old pilot who was flown to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, according to the Associated Press.

The NTSB will determine the probable cause of the accident, Bergen said.

The airport is about 70 miles southwest of Atlanta.
