EMILY GIFFIN, 37, of Brookhaven is the New York Times bestselling author of "Love the One You're With," (St. Martin's Press, $13.95). She describes her signature style as "classic with a bit of an edge and chic but always comfortable. Fashion is more about fit and your body than the clothing."

WHAT SHE'S WEARING: Black and white chiffon tank and gray cardigan by Jason Wu, and GoldSign white jeans. Roberto Marroni diamond necklace, Chanel watch and Marni handbag.

A WEAKNESS: "The Barneys New York jewelry counter and Barneys in general." Giffin also recently purchased a cocktail ring by Ippolita (center).

FASHION PET PEEVE: "Over-accessorizing. Simplicity is always more elegant that overdoing it. It is always good to edit your look. Look in the mirror and take one piece off." Black patent-leather peep toes shoes by Chanel.

Giffin's collection of heels includes pairs from Jimmy Choo, Prada, Chanel and Christian Louboutin.

STANDOUT FASHION MOMENT: "I wore a Zac Posen dress to my book launch party in Atlanta last year and Isla Fisher later wore it in [the movie] 'Confessions of a Shopaholic.' There's nothing like beating a celebrity to the punch." Here she wears a pink cotton/silk Magaschoni cardigan with gold buttons, Wolford tank and a leopard-print skirt from Tuleh. Skinny gold belt by Dries Van Noten and gold sandals by Manolo Blahnik.

"My favorite accessories would be Jamie Wolf jewelry, Henry Cuir belts and Virginia Johnson scarves." Necklace and earrings by Jamie Wolf.

FAVORITE STORES: "Jeffrey, J. Crew, the shoe department at Saks Fifth Avenue, Luna and Bluefly.com." Giffin's collection of clutch handbags includes (front to back) a vintage python clutch from VBH, a black clutch from Christian Louboutin, a brown clutch by Kotur and a Prada bag with silver hardware.

BIGGEST SPLURGE: "I've written four books and for each release I've bought myself a fabulous piece of clothing and jewelry. They get nicer with each book. For this last one I bought myself a Christian Dior jacket and Ileana Makri diamond hoops." Here she wears a black strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress with box pleats and gunmetal Prada sandals and a cocktail ring by Ippolita.

BEST FIND: "A Balenciaga trench. I got it at Jeffrey, and I had to be talked into it, but it was the perfect fit, and it is seasonless. It's double-breasted and black, and it goes with everything."

ATLANTA STYLE IS ... "very diverse. Tory Burch to bohemian to hip hop." Clutch by Christian Louboutin and cocktail ring by Ippolita.
