November 24, 2015 ATLANTA An officer starts his rotation. Officers with the Atlanta Police Department conduct advanced patrol rifle training at its firearms range Tuesday, November 24, 2015. The training was scheduled prior to the terrorist attacks in Paris and is for Department personnel who are equipped with enhanced weaponry. The patrol rifle training focused on enhancing officer skills when responding to active shooter incidents. The training included modules related to engaging multiple targets and increasing the officers speed in target acquisition, threat elimination, and reloading. The training is conducted regularly to ensure Atlanta patrol officers and members of specialized response units are prepared to respond to any occurrence where citizens of the city are targeted in an active shooting event.
