Peanut butter and jelly day celebrated

Austell's Trish Mitchell, owner of Nuts for You, Inc., a company that makes glazed nut snacks, prepares a batch of cinnamon-glazed peanuts to give as samples.

Peanust grabbed the spotlight in a positive fashion peanut lovers descended upon the Capitol.

David Bailey of Tifton helps out the Georgia Peanut Commission by serving as cook as he prepares a batch of deep fried peanuts. His recipe: use raw peanuts, deep fry them for about seven minutes in peanut oil (of course) at about 375 degrees and then flavor with regular salt or creole seasoning for a spicier taste.

A long line of PB&J aficionados queues up for grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches served by the hundreds as Georgia's peanut industry celebrates their special day.

Legislative aide Michelle Muse of Stone Mountain savors her first taste of a grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich. And her verdict: "Fantastic. I'm going to get back in line to get another one!" she exclaimed.
