Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans, August 29, 2005

A Hurricane Katrina survivor and her two babies wade through the water out to a waiting chartered bus outside the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Orleans, Thursday, Sept.1, 2005. Starting with an estimated 16,000-20,000 people and estimated to continue through the night, refugees were walked through the lower level of the hotel to the awaiting air-conditioned buses.
