A woman was shot early Friday in what police are calling a road rage incident in north Cobb County.

“There was a road rage incident that took place that carried over into the apartment complex,” a Cobb County police spokesman said.

“The altercation continued into the complex, where it went from a road rage incident to a physical altercation between the occupants of both vehicles,” a police spokesman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was shot around 2 a.m. just inside the gates at the Shiloh Green Apartments off Shiloh Road near Kennesaw.

"After the physical altercation, at some point, a gun was produced and a female was shot," police said.

The victim was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Her condition and identity were not immediately available.

Cobb police investigators have not said where the road rage incident began, or what started it. The apartment complex is off Wade Green Road, just west of I-75.

Police are interviewing apartment complex residents about the shooting incident.

The incident took place at Shiloh Green Apartments off Shiloh Road near Kennesaw.
