Metro Atlanta residents and officials were caught off guard and stranded by a snow storm on Jan. 28, 2014, that paralyzed the city and surrounding counties.

January 28 is the anniversary of Snowpocalypse 2014, the snow and ice storm that paralyzed metro Atlanta for days. The somber event was also known as Snow Jam and Snowmageddon.

Roads and highways proved treacherous for commuting as a snow and ice storm hit the metro Atlanta area early on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. Here's a look back at AJC photos from the day of the winter storm and the days of cleanup after the storm.
