A pedestrian that was not in a crosswalk died after being hit by a vehicle Monday night in Cobb County, according to police.
The wreck happened shortly before 9 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 41 and Allgood Road in Marietta, temporarily closing the southbound lanes of U.S. 41, Marietta police said.
Investigators believe the victim, whose name was not released, was not in a crosswalk when he was struck in the roadway by a 56-year-old Cobb County woman, according to Officer Michael Gardner. The man was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he died.
The driver is not expected to face charges, Gardner said. She was not injured.
