Package left at Midtown building deemed safe

March 3, 2014

An investigation into a suspicious package at a Midtown building blocked several streets Monday afternoon for more than two hours. But shortly after 6 p.m., investigators determined the package was not harmful.

Police were called to the Biltmore at Midtown apartments shortly after 3 p.m. Monday afternoon, according to Officer John Chafee with Atlanta police.

West Peachtree Street was temporarily blocked between 5th and 6th streets, and Spring Street was also blocked in the area, Chafee said.

Investigators later determined the package, believed to be a suitcase, contained personal items, Chafee said.
