Atlanta police Friday were investigating an overnight shooting that left a person dead in northwest Atlanta.

The shooting happened just before midnight at a home on Elm Street, according to Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones.

Police have not released the name of the victim or a motive for the shooting.
