She was reported to be in stable condition.

An Atlanta police officer shot a woman who stabbed the father of her children in northeast Atlanta on Sunday morning, officials said.

The woman was reported to be in stable condition, police department spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty said.

The GBI identified the woman Monday as 32-year-old Victoria Cabey. She has not been charged, but the investigation is ongoing, Atlanta police said.

Officers were called to an apartment in the 600 block of Parkway Drive about 8 a.m. Sunday, Daugherty said. An officer encountered a woman attacking the man with a knife, he said. The man had been stabbed and she was trying to stab him again, Daugherty said.

The officer shot the woman once.

The GBI was called to investigate, which is protocol for officer-involved shootings.
