Psalms 27:1
"The LORD is my light and salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom should I be afraid?"
Dal Zierk lived a full and blessed life. He has been described by many as a gentleman and "one of the good guys." Dal was a kind-hearted, gentle soul who took the time to befriend everyone. He was a committed and loving husband to his wife Judy, an engaged father, an avid sports fan, and a remarkable grandfather. Known as G-Dog to his grandkids, Dal made it a point to be a meaningful part of each of their lives. His time spent playing games and participating in their activities provided them with immeasurable guidance and support growing up. Dal's mild temperament was complimented by a baiting wit that made him both fun and disarming for those that spent time with him.
Dal was born to Donald and Elva Zierk and raised in Dundee, IL. Dal graduated from Dundee High School earning varsity letters in basketball, baseball, and cross-country. He continued competitive sports playing college basketball, baseball and running cross-country for Cornell College where he won honors and multiple sports awards. After graduating with degrees in Business and Psychology, Dal worked for IBM before attending The University of Iowa for his MBA. Dal had a long career with Kimberly-Clark Corp spanning five decades holding positions in both sales and marketing.
Upon retirement, Dal spent much of his time travelling the world with Judy, spending time with his grandchildren and volunteering. He worked very closely for many years with Habitat for Humanity and Job Networking. Dal was an active member of Roswell United Methodist Church and very involved with his CUC Sunday School class.
Dal is survived by Judy, his loving wife of 57 years; his two children Kristin Ennis (Rich) of Kiawah Island, SC and Jeff Zierk (Traci) of Buford, GA; four grandchildren Katie Soderberg, Nicole Ennis, Anna Kate Ennis, and Samantha Zierk; sister Donna Dean of Genoa, IL; nephews Darryl Plauck, Dennis Plauck (Lori), and David Plauck; and niece Dawn Skarzynski (Bill). We are all privileged and honored to have been able to call Dal our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, family, friend, or co-worker.
A Celebration of Life and Faith will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at Roswell United Methodist Church, 814 Mimosa Blvd, Roswell. The family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in honor of Dal may be given to the Roswell United Methodist Church Commons Garden.
