Mr. William Herschel Thompson, Sr., age 79, of Hampton, passed away September 13, 2021. He was born in Atlanta, son of the late Rosby Lennon Thompson, Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth Thompson. He loved the Lord and he loved his family dearly. He retired after spending most of his life as a truck driver transporting goods across America. Herschel enjoyed watching and talking about sports with his family and friends. More than anything, he enjoyed having a good meal with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he joins his wife Joyce Marie Thompson, his son Michael Lennon Thompson, grandson Troy Dee Poole, Jr., great-granddaughter Haleigh Marie Poole, and brother Rosby Lennon Thompson, Jr., in Heaven.
He is survived by his daughter, Terri Lynn Poole; daughter, Kelley Denise Duron and her husband, Alfredo; son, William Herschel Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Kristy; grandchildren: David Duron, Leslie Poole, Michael Duron, Christopher Duron, Kristen Jones, Matthew Poole, Ethan Thompson, Morgan Thompson, and Kiplyn Thompson; Great-grandchildren: David (D. J.) Duron, Jr., Brycen Walker, Brayden Duron, Brantley Duron, Beckham Jones, Braxton Duron, Layna Poole, Lincoln Jones, and Everli Jones; Siblings: Jean Elizabeth Ford and Ellis Lee Thompson; along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 24th at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church, 151 Macedonia Church Rd, Jackson. Friends may visit the family on Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home.
