SCHWEFLER, David
David Eric Schwefler, age 82, died on Wednesday, September 29, in Atlanta, GA, surrounded by his family. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Curtis Herman Schwefler and Helen Mann Schwefler. Dave was a dedicated and loyal husband, father, and grandfather who devoted his life to his family. In 1966 he married Marcia Rose Beisswenger, eventually settling in Dunwoody, GA, to be closer to Dave's best friend, brother, and mentor, Dick Schwefler. Dave was very active in youth sports programs, which led to his football and lacrosse scholarships at the University of Delaware. As a father, he became involved with Murphey Candler Baseball, coaching his three children, and took great pride in his children's, nephew's, and grandchildren's sports accomplishments. He was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Like his brother and father before him, Dave's work passion was sales. Dave worked for various software companies and became an expert in the label systems technology industry. Dave's faith was extremely important and led him to become involved with the Stephen Ministry and Education For Ministry (EfM) at St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church. During his time as a Stephen Minister, he provided comfort to many care receivers. And through the EfM program, Dave studied scripture, church history, liturgy, and theology. His family is comforted to know that Dave's final resting place will be at his beloved St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church. Dave is survived by his loving wife Marcia Schwefler of 55 years; his three children of whom he was so proud: Eric Schwefler (Patti) of Mountain Brook, AL, JD Schwefler (Caroline) of East Cobb, GA, and Linda Stevens (Chris) of Evanston, IL; seven grandchildren which he proudly referred to as "The Magnificent Seven"; Kennedy, Ferris, Luke, Noah, and Ethan Schwefler and Quinn and Andrew Stevens. A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church in Atlanta, GA. If you wish to remember Dave with a donation, please consider giving to The Suthers Center for Christian Outreach, PO Box 80568, Chamblee, GA 30366, or to St. Martin's Stephen Ministry, PO Box 190109, Brookhaven, GA 31119.
