RHYNER, Marjorie

Marjorie Susan Rhyner (Evans) passed away in her sleep on October 23, 2021, just 3 months shy of her 99th birthday. Marjorie, or "Marge" was born to Bessie Mae and John Curtis Evans on January 27, 1923 in Cortez, FL. She met her future husband and love of her life, Jack O. Rhyner, in St. Petersburg, FL, where he was recuperating from injuries sustained in Europe during WWII. They married on December 26, 1944. Together, they lived in many cities across the United States while Jack continued to serve his country in the United States Air Force. Marge and Jack had many friends, and they loved traveling, playing bridge and their dachshund Rusty. After Jack retired from the USAF, they settled in Amityville Long Island and raised their three children; Patricia Ann, Pamela Eileen and John Walter Rhyner. Marge was an impeccable homemaker, a skilled cook, and seamstress. She was intelligent, feisty, and thoughtfully outspoken, characteristics she passed on to her children. Their later life, after retirement from work and raising children, was spent in Santa Rosa, CA where the warm weather was perfect for Marge's many interests, especially gardening, golf, and caring for her grandchildren. After she was widowed in 2010, Marge lived independently in assisted living, playing bridge and spending time with her many friends.

She is survived by her three children Patricia Rhyner (Aubrey Forlines), Pamela Rhyner (Ken Brown), and John Rhyner (Christine), six grandchildren Rachel, Jack, Justine, Parker, Lucas, and Olivia, and one great-grandchild Shiloh Grace.

Marge loved animals, especially rescue dogs. In lieu of flowers, she would be grateful for donations to Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318, or atlantahumane.org.
