RAY, Charisse Darcel
Ms. Charisse D. Ray of Decatur, GA went home to be with God on Friday December 25, 2020 at the age of 66 years old. She was born October 16, 1954 in Dover, Ohio. Ms. Ray was a devoted and active member of St. Philip AME Church of Decatur, GA, actively serving in the W.N. Griffin Gospel Choir and a member of St. Paul AME Church of Canton, OH her entire life. She is survived by her loving mother, Ms. Betty Jackson of Massillon, OH; one aunt, Lorrain Purnell; and cousins, Terry Purnell and Jeff Wynne of Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her fathers, Charles Ray and Willie Jackson; grandparents Rev. John Wynne (Leola), grandparents Buford Ray (Beatrice) and several aunts and uncles. She has a host of cousins, nieces and nephews in Dover, OH, Atlanta and Lawrenceville, GA, as well as many special friends that loved and cherished her. Ms. Ray graduated from McKinley High School in Canton, OH, in 1972, and afterwards attended the University of Toledo and graduated from Kent State University. She was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and retired from Bellsouth/AT&T in Atlanta, GA. She served as a volunteer elementary school reading tutor in the AARP Experience Corps and was a grassroots community activist.
