PONCINIE, Daniel

Daniel James Poncinie, 90, peacefully passed away on August 28, 2021 at his home in Smyrna, GA. He was born February 13, 1931 in Oak Lawn, IL and attended Leo Catholic High School, before attending University of Illinois and DeVry Institute. He served in the United States Army in Germany, during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1954. He moved to Atlanta, GA in 1960 while working for Allstate Insurance Company, retiring in 1984. After retirement he bought a small lunch shop in Dunwoody and greeted his customers daily. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rosemary, his children Daniel R. Poncinie, Richard Poncinie, Mary Beth Daniel, and his grandchildren, Daniel Patrick Poncinie, William Poncinie, Emily Poncinie, Jacquelyn Daniel, and Isabelle Daniel. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Wojtczak (Rochester, MN) and nieces. Funeral services will be held at 10 PM, Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4465 Northside Dr. NW, Atlanta, GA 30327. He will be buried in the memorial garden located on the church property. Following the mass and interment, there will be a reception in McDonough Hall, are all welcome.
