PIRKLE (RICHARDSON), Barbara Lynn "Babs"
Barbara Lynn "Babs" Richardson Pirkle, age 77, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at her home in Milton, GA. Babs was born June 27, 1944 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Robert Mason Richardson and Hazel Fowler Richardson, and grew up in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. She graduated from North Fulton High School in Atlanta in 1962, and Wesleyan College in Macon, GA, where she obtained a degree in Music Education, in 1968. She taught music at Edwins Elementary School in Fort Walton Beach Florida while her husband Walter was serving in the U.S. Air Force. After Walter served four years in the Air Force, he and Babs moved to Cobb County, GA in 1971, where they lived for 28 years. For many years, Babs was a stay-at-home mom with her daughter Christy and was active in her church choir and many volunteer roles. She later worked in the Fashion industry at the Atlanta Apparel Mart and Gift Mart for many seasons. In 2000, Babs and Walter moved to Milton, where they lived until her death. Babs is survived by her husband of 53 years, Walter; daughter Christy (Michael) Reeves; brother Michael (Janie) Richardson; and grandsons John Mason Reeves and Andrew Reeves. A Memorial Service will be held at Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, GA (2450 Lower Roswell Road 30068) on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
