LAWHORNE (STARRETT), Margaret "Peggy"
Peggy Starrett Lawhorne, age 79, passed away at her home in Snellville, Georgia on January 7th 2021. She was born July 24, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia to Barney and Joy (Allen) Starrett. Peggy attended Russell High School in East Point, Georgia. After high school, Peggy married John Larry Cloud, Jr. (deceased). Together they had two daughters, Cynthia Leigh Whitenton and Sheryl Lynn Key (deceased). Later in life, Peggy married Louie Lawhorne. They were married until his death six years ago. Peggy enjoyed playing bridge. She loved to dance and Johnny's Hideaway was always a favorite. She would meet her high school girl friends there and dance the night away, especially when there was a birthday to celebrate. She was also known to spend a few nights, in Cherokee, with a slot machine and her late husband, Louie. Or, she might just take the whole family. Peggy, with her fun loving and charismatic personality, never met a stranger. She was a loving and loyal Sister, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend. She loved keeping up with her high school friends and was looking forward to another reunion this year. Peggy also loved to work. Until she retired, she would frequently work 10-12 hour days. She was a finance manager at Stone Mountain Chrysler for 40 plus years. She always had a big smile, something funny to say, and kind words for everyone. Her clients would come back time and time again to have her process their car sales for them. They knew she was honest and an expert at getting things done right. Peggy's illness for the past several years kept her from going out and the love of her life was her little Westie, "Piper". She never left her side. Piper and "Alexa" kept Peggy pretty busy these past few years. Her constant companions, her caretakers, Doreen, and Judy were a perfect match and will always be appreciated. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Whitenton and her husband Mark; grandchildren, Cami Clower Havener (deceased), Jessica Parker and her husband Mark Kensie Tancraitor, Leah Rushing, Christopher, Taylor, and Matthew Whitenton; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Nancy Harrison; brother-in-law, Charles Harrison; sister-in-law, Dianne Lawhorne; and numerous nieces and nephews. There are no services planned at this time. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com.
