On the evening of October 20, 2021, Leroy passed away peacefully while being comforted by family members and the care takers of Seasons Hospice North Georgia Inpatient Center Cumming, GA. Leroy was 79 years old at the time of passing.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Ola Mae Bennett Hubbard, in-laws Roscoe and Alta Lee (Runt) Bagby Thomas, sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Phil Vaughn and brother-in-law William (Willie) Snyder.
Leroy Hubbard served three terms on the Board of Commissioners: 1977-1980, 1981-1984, and 1985-1988. During that time, he held various positions on the Board: Chairman-1982, 1985, 1986 and 1987, Vice Chairman-1983, 1984 and 1988, and Secretary-1978,1979 and 1981. Leroy also served on several local, State and Regional Boards during his twelve years of service as Commissioner of District 4 in Forsyth County where he was instrumental in getting county water in the northern part of the county.
Leroy is survived by his wife Sandra Thomas Hubbard of 57 years, his children Tim and Cathy Williams Hubbard, Russ and Kristie Shadburn Hubbard, his grandchildren Timothy Clayton (T.C.) Hubbard, Joshua Hubbard, Jacob Hubbard and Sarah Hubbard, and his great-grandson Thomas Wayne Hubbard; step grandchildren and great grandchildren: grandson Nathan Williams, granddaughter Abby (Williams) and Jeffery Bowman. Great grandchildren Brooks and Brody Bowman. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Herman and Edna Hubbard, sister Melba Snyder, brother and sister-in-law James Earl and Susie Hubbard, brother and sister-in-law John and Joy Thomas Dooley along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 22 at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA 30040 with Reverend Danny Bennett and Reverend Gary Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens, 1390 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040. Family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 21 and on Friday, October 22, 9:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Coal Mtn. Baptist Church for children to attend the North Georgia School of Gospel Music.
