GOULD, Gail Peterson
Gail Peterson Gould died on January 2, 2021. Gail Peterson was born in 1927 in Litchfield, MN. In highschool she played the violin and began a lifelong interest in modern dancing. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Latin American Studies and worked as a secretary in Washington, DC and in London, England. In 1951 she moved to Aiken, SC, where she met John Charles Gould, a recent graduate from UNC-CH in city planning. They married and moved to Atlanta where Mr. Gould worked as a planner and became a professor of city planning at Georgia Tech. Gail raised three children and did volunteer work, including for Planned Parenthood, and went back to work as a secretary for the North DeKalb Health Dept and Mental Health. Gail enjoyed swimming and tennis and the beautiful woods of the Brittany neighborhood in Brookhaven. John died in 2003 and their youngest son, Jonathan, in 2016. Gail is survived by daughter Martha (Murat), North Bay, Ontario; son John David, Athens, GA; daughter-in-law Cathy, Frankfurt, Germany; and by three grandchildren, Alexandria, Washington, D.C.; Evren, Montréal; and Josephine, Frankfurt, Germany.
