GORDON, Sidney
Sidney Gordon, 85, of Decatur, GA, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021. He was born to Florence Kaplan Gordon and Joe Gordon in Chicago, IL. Sidney believed in the value of education and loved numbers and formulas. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology and Columbia University with a PhD in Chemistry. Sid taught Chemistry to thousands of students over his 30+ year tenure at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Sid enjoyed international folk dancing, the Dekalb Farmers Market, and playing clarinet. Sid was well known to all by his big smile. He was married for over 50 years to his one love, Linda Phyllis Gordon, who preceded him in death seven years ago. He is survived by his loving children, Neil (Minda), Lisa (Andrew) and Jonathan (Michelle); grandchildren, Josh, Jennie, Eva, Miles, Talia and Daphne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tourette Syndrome Association c/o Sidney Gordon Memorial Fund at www.tsa-usa.org. or the Michael J. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Arlington Memorial Park, with Rabbi Jonathan Lubliner officiating.
