DAVIDSON, Reid

Reid Holmes Davidson, 64, of Peachtree Corners, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. A service to celebrate Reid's life will be announced later.

Born March 15, 1957, Reid was the son of the late Charles Lewis Davidson, Jr. and the late Sarah Cecelia McCurdy Davidson. He attended public schools in Avondale Estates, Georgia through the seventh grade and then attended high school at Atlanta's Westminster School from 1970 until his graduation in 1975. While at Westminster, Reid served as Captain of the Swim Team and also earned numerous academic and sports accolades, most notably twice winning both the State of Georgia men's springboard diving championship and the U.S. Southern Regional men's springboard diving championship, being named an All American men's high school springboard diver four times, and being ranked the #1 preparatory school men's springboard diver in the U.S. for the 1974-1975 school year. After graduation from Westminster, Reid attended Vanderbilt University, where he majored in Business Administration and French and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979. At Vanderbilt, Reid served as President of his freshman year dorm, was Rush Chairman and Parliamentarian of his social fraternity, became a member of Phi Sigma Iota (the national foreign language honorary society), and founded the on-campus music band "Dixie Chicken". Reid completed his formal education by earning a Master of Business Administration degree in 1983 from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, where he studied Finance and Commercial Real Estate. At Wharton, he served as President of the Real Estate Club, worked as a teaching assistant for the Real Estate Development class, and co-founded two local music bands, "Dixie Chicken" and "The Champagne Millionaires".

Reid began his long and distinguished career in commercial real estate in 1979 when he worked for Cabot, Cabot & Forbes in Washington, D.C. between college and business school. After receiving his MBA at Wharton, Reid moved to Atlanta where he worked as a Development Manager for The Landmarks Group and as a Vice President of Acquisitions for Richard Ellis, Inc. In 1988, Reid founded Davidson Associates, LLC, a commercial real estate firm which specialized in office tenant representation and investment advisory services for businesses and institutional investors. From 2009 to 2017, Reid was also Co-Founder, Senior Broker and Co-Owner of Davidson Webster Associates, LLC, an Atlanta-based commercial real estate tenant/investor representation firm.

Though Reid loved his work, he also found great joy in his music, which demonstrated his extraordinary God-given talents for playing the piano, the guitar, the harmonica and singing. Whether playing in bands during his college and business school years or appearing on "open mic nights" at venues around Atlanta during his working years, Reid consistently demonstrated that he was an exceptional musician who sought to express not only his talent but also his strong passion for this personal pastime. He also greatly enjoyed time spent with his three sons in the outdoors, particularly bow hunting in wilderness areas throughout North America as well as saltwater fishing during his and the boys' many "beach getaways" to favorite places like St. Simons Island and Panama City Beach.

Reid is survived by his wonderful wife of forty years, Stephanie Ann Guild Davidson, who has been a loving caregiver during the last few years, as well as by the couple's three sons, Reid Holmes "Skip" Davidson, Jr., Tyler McCurdy Davidson, and Price Miller Davidson, to whom Reid was always a loving, generous and caring father and by whom he will forever be remembered as the special man whose love, generosity and caring for them was never more obvious or special than during their many hunting, fishing, scuba diving, water skiing and snow skiing trips together. Reid will also be missed by his four grandsons, Hayden Davidson, Knox Davidson, Rhett Davidson and Ollie Davidson, his three siblings, Charles Lewis "Chip" Davidson, III, Robert McCurdy "Rob" Davidson, and Leigh Davidson Connolly, his five nephews, his three nieces and his two grandnieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Reid Davidson may be made to the American Cancer Society (https://donate3.cancer.org). Online condolences may be expressed at www.crowellbrothers.com.
