Open enrollment has arrived for the Affordable Care Act’s exchange markets this year. People can sign up for ACA coverage, also known as Obamacare, by going to healthcare.gov.
For those who could use help, several navigator organizations still exist in Georgia to guide people through the process of enrolling.
The largest organization, Insure Georgia, mostly doesn’t have offices but shows up at spots across the state at specific times. Its navigators bring a computer to a public place, set up a desk and are ready for visitors. Their hope is to visit enough places in enough counties that everybody has an opportunity to get to visit them at least once. It doesn’t matter whether you don’t live in the county they’re visiting.
A calendar of Insure Georgia's sign-up events is available on its website, Insurega.org. You can also go there to search your county to see exactly when an event there might be.
Insure Georgia’s advertising budget has been cut deeply this year, so you likely won’t be hearing about the events on radio and TV like in previous years.
