An Athens couple went into the weekend with two children.

They came out with six, thanks to the birth of quadruplets.

Julianne and Matthew Kirkland welcomed to the world three boys and a girl to go with their two boys, Campbell and Jack, 5 and 3.

Julianne, who has been keeping followers on top of the news of her pregnancy through a blog and social media announced the newbies this way on Facebook:

Baby A: Ashton Blake; Baby B: Bradlee Ann; Baby C: Walker Hayes; Baby D: Meyers Wayne. Were welcomed last night at 7:58,7:59,8,8:02..All doing well. More details to come.”

Details, indeed.

The Kirklands weren’t expecting quads when they opted for intrauterine insemination following a miscarriage in January 2013.

It was a shock, in fact, especially since doctors had figured their chances of having a baby as rather slim. But then came the news.

“When I went in for my pre-insemination ultra-sound, the nurse saw two good looking eggs…but that was it!” Kirkland wrote on the blog, Oh my QUAD! “Knowing we were only willing to do this process once, Matt and I prayed that one would take…well God answered! He saw our one and raised us three!”

The babies, ranging in size from 2 pounds 11 ounces to 3 pounds 11 ounces, were born via cesarean section Saturday night and are resting in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Georgia Regents University Hospital in Augusta, according to Channel 2 Action News.
