An Arizona 5-year-old is nursing a facial wound after a Halloween night incident in which his father said he was shot in a drive-by paintball attack.

Kristopher White and his son, Logan, were part of a group of about 30 trick-or-treaters visiting a neighborhood haunted house in Phoenix when the attack occurred, azfamily.com reported. At least one person in a passing car fired a volley of paintballs into the crowd, striking four people.

Logan, who was dressed as a soldier in honor of his dad, was struck in the face by a paintball, the news agency reported. His cheek was left bruised and swollen.

"It's just scary because it could have taken his eye out," White said. "We had our baby with us. If it had hit the baby, 12 days old, it could have killed our baby."

White tried to chase down the car where the shots came from, but was unable to, azfamily.com reported. Phoenix police are looking for the suspects, who are believed to have been in a silver Dodge Durango, or a similar vehicle, with a rack on its roof.

"It's just disappointing to me that that would be funny or a good time to do that to children," White said. "I think that if they saw him and saw what they did they'd probably regret doing it."
