A giant gorilla with rippling muscles and mysteriously good looks has women everywhere crushing on the hairy beast.

Shabani, an 18-year-old silverback, has become the main attraction at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya, Japan. Tipping the scales at 400 lbs., he's become an internet sensation with his brooding stares and masculine poses.

"He is more buff than most gorillas and he's at his peak physically. We've seen a rise in the number of female visitors -- women say he's very good-looking," zoo spokesman Takayuki Ishikawa tells AFP.

Shabani has been a zoo resident since 2007 but only recently shot to fame after being the face of the zoo's spring festival this year. Women also like that he's a good daddy.

"He's a father and he always protects and looks over his children," Ishikawa said. "Zoo-goers think his kindness is attractive too."

Shabani's looks are already being compared to that of famous male models and has been featured on many popular TV shows in Japan, giving women even more time to go 'ape' over him.
