A California woman has been arrested after police said she drove drunk and slammed into a man who was walking along a road.
The man was thrown onto the windshield, where he became wedged, KGTV reported.
Police said Esteysi Sanchez Izazaga, also known as by Stacy Sanchez, didn't stop, but continued driving for nearly a mile with the man in the windshield. She then drove onto a sidewalk and through landscaping before finally stopping, leaving the car and walking away, KGTV reported.
KNSD reported that the man went head-first through the glass, stopping on the front passenger seat. His leg was ripped from his body and flew though the car and the back window, landing on the trunk, police said.
The man, who was a known transient in the neighborhood, was pronounced dead at the scene. First responders found his shoes, wallet, keys and pants in the street. They also found part of the car's windshield.
Izazaga told police that she had been drinking at several bars overnight and was on her way home in the morning. Police found her a few blocks from where they said she abandoned the car, KGTV reported.
Izazaga was arrested, charged with felony DUI, felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter, KNSD reported.
