A 37-year-old woman looking forward to marrying her fiancé in July was walking in Greenwich Village Tuesday evening, talking on her cell phone, when she was struck by a piece of plywood fence that blew off a construction site. (Source: NYTimes)
Tram Thuy Nguyen died just hours after the freak accident.
Nguyen, a real estate agent, had been living in New York for about eight months.
The piece of wood that hit her was 4 feet by 8 feet. It flew 50 feet across West 12th Street and hit Nguyen. (Source: NYPost)
The construction project was shut down as officials began the investigation into what caused the plywood to come off.
