A woman was killed Sunday afternoon when a tree fell and crushed her car as she was driving down a street in Pacific Beach, Calif.
Nicki Carano was a musician and dance instructor in San Diego.
A wind storm knocked an 8-foot diameter tree down, blocking the entire four-lane street.
Carano's friend Matt Silva told NBC San Diego that emergency responders said she died instantly.
"I can't help thinking she must have been terrified as the tree was coming down," Silva said.
KFMB reported that the tree crushed four cars, including Carano's small Honda.
The three other cars were unoccupied.
