Mary Bostrom has always loved music.
So, even at age 99, there was no other way she was going to celebrate her birthday than by keeping a beat.
What better way than playing the drums.
"Anytime I get behind any kind of music, boy I'll take a hold of it and play my music," she told KUSA. "I love to play the drums."
She plays the drums a few times a month at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado.
"She's been around music all her life," her son Howard Bostrom told KUSA. "She learned to play by ear. When I grew up, I took piano lessons. She was always in the kitchen telling me if I went too fast or too slow."
She started playing the drums in the 1990s. While she is having a little more trouble getting in the chair, Bostrom is still inspired to perform.
"I like to play, so I play whenever I can," she told KUSA. "I wouldn't be me if I couldn't play."
