A Tennessee woman has been charged after police said she tried to smother her husband with a pillow while he was a patient at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Vanderbilt police were called to the hospital room of Barbara Jones' husband, Joseph Jones, when someone there had heard screams from the man's hospital room, WSMV reported. When the person entered the room, they said they saw Jones removing a pillow from the man's face, WKRN reported.
He also reportedly said "She tried to smother me to death," the police report said, according to WKRN.
Joseph Jones told police that his wife was on top of him on the hospital bed using all of her body weight. He also told police that due his medical condition, he couldn't get her off of him, WKRN reported.
He accused his wife of drinking, saying he could smell alcohol on her breath.
Jones is charged with attempted criminal homicide and bond was set at $50,000, WSMV reported.
