A winning ticket has been selected in the $400 million powerball. Just one.
The ticket was sold in Lexington, South Carolina -- a town of about 20,000 people. The winning numbers were 7, 10, 22, 32, 35 and a Powerball of 19. This was was the fifth-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. (Via WOLO)
And the winner might not even yet know they’re now way richer. No one has come forward claiming the ticket yet. Of course, the winner could choose to remain anonymous.
The winner could opt for a one-time cash payout, which, after taxes, would be about $134 million.
Even the gas station that sold the ticket is a winner -- it gets $50,000 for selling the winning ticket.
By the way, should you ever win, the official advice on what to do from South Carolina lottery officials, NBC reports...
“ ... sign the back of the ticket, put it in a safe location, seek financial or legal advice from a trusted source, and then come forward to claim the ticket."
The odds of winning this jackpot had been put at 1 in 175 million after 11 drawings with no winner since August 10th.
