A Thornton, Colorado, Wingstop is being investigated after video of an employee sticking her face into a bucket full of raw chicken was posted on social media.
The Facebook video was shared to a local news outlet, which made local health officials aware of the incident.
KDVR reported that the video was deleted from Facebook, but appeared to be part of an inside joke among the staff.
"I was disgusted," customer Lizzie Pressel said. "That’s your work. I mean, it comes down to work ethic. It’s your job; you need to have respect."
Franchise owner Aaron Zipp said no employees would give him information on the video when he asked them.
"As the owner of this Wingstop location, I am taking this issue very seriously," Zipp said in a statement. "The health and safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to (me) and to the Wingstop brand and the actions displayed in this video are not acceptable.
"We have an established and positive 13-year track record with the Tri-County Health Department and have a zero-tolerance policy for the mishandling of our food."
Zipp said he confirmed that the food in the video was not given to customers and was thrown away.
He said and he his employees are "taking immediate steps to resolve the situation."
The Tri-County Health Department said it will visit the restaurant as part of an investigation.
